Obituary for Dana Maciunas Mockus

Died in 2018 August 25, at the age of 76.
She was born on November 20, 1941, in the Lithuanian city of
Kaunas, the daughter of Drs. Algirdas and Genevieve (Strikas)
Maciunas. During the war, she was a refugee with her parents in
Germany and later in America. She grew up in Chicago where she
graduated from the Northwestern University's Feinberg School of
Medicine. Dr. Maciunas settled in San Diego, California, where
she worked as a beloved pediatrician from 1968 until her passing.
Since 2008, Dr. Dana Maciūnas Mockus also was the president of
the Oak Tree Philanthropic Foundation which provides funds for
educational and beneficial programs in Lithuania as well as for
various American organizations.
Left in deep mourning are: her husband dr. Vytautas Mockus; her
daughter dr Danytė Mockaitė Valenzuela with husband Michael
and granddaughter Olivia; her sons Rimas and Andrius; her sisters
dr. Grazina McClure and Dr. Jurate Landwehr; and the widow of
her late brother dr Robert Maciūnas, dr. Ann Failinger.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday September 15th.
from 1 PM at Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary, San
Diego, CA. Funeral will take place on Friday, September 21, in
Lemont, IL. Visitation will begin at 9 AM, followed at 10 AM by
Mass at the Blessed Jurgis Matulaitis Lithuanian Mission. After
mass, the departed Dana will be buried in St Casimir’s Lithuanian
Cemetery, Chicago, IL.
Those wishing to make a donation in memory of the deceased are

Mirė 2018 m. rugpjūčio 25 d., sulaukusi 76 metų amžiaus.
Gimė 1941 m. lapkričio 20 d., Lietuvoje Kaune mieste, dukra dr. Algirdo ir dr.
Genovaitės (Strikaitė) Maciūnų. Karo metu su tevais pasitraukė į Vokietiją ir
veliau į Ameriką. Užaugo Čikagoje kur baigė Northwestern Universiteto Feinberg
School of Medicene 1967 m. Dr. Maciūnaitė apsigyveno San Diego,
Kalifornijoje , kur dirbo kaip mylima pediatrijos gytytoja nuo 1968 m. iki jos
mirties. Nuo 2008 m., Dr. Danūtė Maciūnaitė Mockienė ir dirbo kaip Prezidentė
prie Oak Tree Philanthropic Foundation del pasiskyrimo pinigų del gerbuvės ir
auklėjamui Lietuvoje bei įvairioms Amerikos organizacijoms.
Giliame liūdesyje liko: vyras dr. Vytautas Mockus; dukra dr. Danytė Mockaitė
Valenzuela su vyru Michael ir anūkė Olivia; sūnūs Rimas ir Andrius; sėserys dr.
Gražina McClure ir dr. Jūratė Landwehr; ir a.a. brolio dr. Roberto Maciūno žmona
dr. Ann Failinger.
Minėjimas įvyks šeštadieni rugsėjaus 15 d. nuo 1 val. vakare, Greenwood
Memorial Park and Mortuary, San Diego, CA. Laidotuvės penktadieni rugsėjaus
21 d. Lemont, IL. Atsisveikinimas įvyks 9 val. ryto, o 10 val. ryto bus aukojamos
šv. Mišios Palaimintojo Jurgio Matulaičio misijoje. Po šv. Mišiu, a.a. Danutė bus
palaidota Šv. Kazimiero lietuvių kapinėse, Chicago, IL.
Norintys paaukoti velionies atminimui prašome siųsti aukas Jezuitų “Baltic
Jesuit Advancement Project”, 1380 Castlewood Drive, Lemont, IL 60439.
