Obituary for Vanda Kaunas

Vanda Kaunas nee Galminaite died peacefully at her residence October 22, 2019. She is survived by her loving daughters Regina (Trevor) Aldhurst and Ramona (Glenn) Duff; sister Zita Grazis; daughter- in-law Grazina Valeika Kaunas; grandchildren Dr. Roland (Christine) Kaunas, Christina (Kent) Johnson, Michael and Peter Aldhurst, and Dr. Christopher and Nicholas Duff; great-grandchildren Rustam Kaunas, Cody and Shawn Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Ferdinand Kaunas and sons Roland and Dr. Roman Kaunas. Vanda is also survived by many family and friends. Vanda was born on February 6,1925 in Mazeikiai, Lithuania, immigrated to the United States in 1949 and settled in Cicero, Illinois. She and her husband moved to Westchester, Illinois in 1995. Vanda loved to play bridge, do sudoku puzzles and dote on her family. She moved to an independent living facility in Libertyville, Illinois late May 2019 where she quickly acclimated making new friends during her short time there. She was a strong, loving, independent woman who will be forever in our hearts. Mass of Christian Burial November 2 , Saturday 10:00 a.m. at the Blessed Jurgis Matulaitis Mission, Lemont, Illinois. Interment at St. Casimir Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial offerings to Sisters of St. Casimir , 2601 W. Marquette Rd., Chicago, IL. 60629or Jurgio Matulaitis Mission, 14911 127th St., Lemont, IL. 60439 would be greatly appreciated.
