Obituary for Margaret J. Murphy Anderson

On Sunday, September 10, 2017, Chicago lost a tried and true South-side Daughter. An Irish Red(head) with eyes of green, a sailor’s mouth and a heart of gold, Marge is again with her one true love and husband, Phil, making mischief as they go. Marge left us, as she did everything else in life, on her own terms and a bit earlier than expected. She was born and raised in South Chicago, and lived the past 30 years in Indian Head Park where if you met her, you would remember...and probably have candy to show for it.

Marge was the youngest child of Joseph and Francis Murphy and little sister to Richard Murphy (all predeceasing her). Marge is survived by her nephew, Joseph Murphy and his family as well as many many dear friends she made along the way.

Marge in life was a philanthropist and supporter of those less fortunate, a quality that began as a Catholic school girl, that continued through College, Graduate School at Loyola, her years as a Teacher and Administrator with Chicago Public Schools and throughout her life, and again even in death. She donated to charity her entire life and now has donated her body to science as a final gift for the rest of us.

We will Honor and Remember Marge at a Memorial Mass with her parish, Saint John of the Cross, 5005 Wolf Rd, Western Springs, IL 60558, on Monday, September 18, 2017, at 11:15 a.m.

Please join us in saying “Erin Go Braugh” to Marge on her journey home.

We love you Marge. May you always be smiling, may the Angels protect you and may Heaven Accept you.
